Tasty Classic Guacamole

Sublime Lip-Smacking Summer Dish

We all love and enjoy the taste of guacamole, but there is nothing that beats fresh homemade guacamole made within minutes. The ingredients are basic but it’s the technique that can make a world of difference.

You just can’t go wrong with serving this guacamole at your next spring or summer party. Store-bought just doesn’t come close to homemade quality filled with all the classic flavors that make guacamole a party staple.



4 tablespoons white onion, minced

3 tablespoons cilantro finely chopped, plus 2 tablespoons

4 teaspoons jalapeño seeded, removed ribs, and minced

1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt

3 tablespoons lime juice, freshly squeezed

3 hass avocados, halved and pitted

2 plum tomatoes, seeded and diced


1. In a mortar & pestle crush onion, cilantro, jalapeño, and salt until liquefied with no big chunks. Add lime juice to mortar and then crush until completely combined.

2. In a medium prep bowl, mash avocados until slightly lumpy. DO NOT OVER MASH.

3. Gently stir in crushed ingredients from mortar. Add diced tomatoes, then stir in remaining chopped cilantro. Serve with your favorite tortilla or corn chips.

BONUS | Guacamole Spread

Follow step one, mash avocados until completely smooth using a potato masher. Gently stir in chopped cilantro and plum tomatoes. Spread on breakfast toast or a favorite summer sandwich.
