Grass-Fed Burgers NOT!

Price Point is Not Everything!

Price Point is Not Everything!

I just don’t understand consumers turing down organic produce for the same price as conventional. Ok, I understand you are at the checkout lane, and you are ready to go you and don’t want to spend another moment inside the supermarket. But I hear over and over again some consumers just stick to conventional produce, because it’s a better price point then organic produce typically. But when conventional strawberries are $2.50 and ORGANIC strawberries are $2.50, you darn right I am going to choose the organic strawberries. Why would I consume harmful pesticides if I don’t have to at the same price. I just feel like some people put their health and wellness in the back seat. Maybe it’s not an important issue for some customers, or maybe some consumers have no idea what the difference between the terms conventional and organic are. Berries are very delicate they absolutely have no skin to protect themselves from all the pesticides, like lets say a watermelon or even an orange. The way I see it berries are like sponges, which tend to soak in anything it comes in contact with. So in the end my point is pricing is not always what counts when consumers purchase produce. Even if the organic produce is the same price as conventional some consumers still pick conventional. I DON’T GET IT!

I believe education on how the agriculture business works in America, especially organic farming could help consumers pick out the highest quality produce. Chatting with some of my friends and family members about food and how food is produce. Most of the time I get a surprised facial reaction, because most consumers have no idea where their food is coming from. Some people care and some people it’s not something they care to learn about. But food is here to nourish our bodies, not just to give our taste buds pleasure. Berries are in season right now, so check out the price point of ORGANIC first before you purchase conventional.
