Simply Balanced Roasted Red Pepper Hummus Review

Simply Balanced Roasted Red Pepper Hummus Review

Most of the time premium brands seem to satisfy an individuals taste buds better than the store’s brand, but this isn’t true for Target’s health conscious brand “Simply Balanced”. I’ve tried all sorts of hummus brands from Sabra to Cedar’s and Simply Balanced takes the…

Harmless Harvest Coconut Water

Harmless Harvest Coconut Water

Harmless Harvest has the very best organic coconut water I have ever tasted. I have tried numerous brands and nothing comes close to the quality that harmless harvest has produced. Don’t worry if you’ve grabbed a pink one. Harmless Harvest states that some bottles turn pink due to varying levels of antioxidants, or polyphenols, interacting with light. The famous organic coconut water brand could use additives to avoid color change but that would be unnecessary. The pink coconut water is safe to drink. So drink up and enjoy all the natural hydration.  Other coconut water brands I have spotted have added natural flavors and the taste is not as pristine. Trust me you want to go RAW when consuming coconut water if you are looking to benefit from the nutrients that coconut water has to offer. Sports drinks don’t stand a chance against this refreshing delight. Try it and please let know what you think.

Organic Butter Matters

Organic Butter Matters

Butter is one of the most purchased food products this time of the year when everyone is baking something special for the holidays. When I first started learning how to bake, if a recipe would call for butter, well, that is what I used. I’ve never really been a fan of margarine or shortening even if a recipe called for it. Nothing specific, just a preference. I enjoy the rich taste that butter produces in my baked goods. Year after year at work, I’m famous for my chocolate chip cookies. I have to admit these cookies are just so delectable, you might end up slapping someone silly if you are not careful. Although I don’t recommend actually slapping someone over a darned cookie, unless you have some cookies to share. I wish I could take the credit for the cookie recipe, but unfortunately, I didn’t create this famous cookie recipe. After my co-workers gobble down my sinful delight, the question I’m most asked is, “How do you bake such great chocolate chip cookies?” My answer is to find a recipe that calls for a ton of butter, not literally of course, but a generous amount. This specific cookie recipe I use calls for two-and-a- half sticks of butter, and I always use ORGANIC. Why?

It was the night before Christmas Eve, I ran into the store to purchase butter last minute, and sadly there was no organic butter to be found, so I didn’t have a choice but to purchase the conventional or regular butter as most would reference. I went home and baked my famous chocolate chip cookies with all the same ingredients listed, like before, except this time the butter wasn’t organic. I thought to myself, “The taste will likely be the same,” but when I shared my cookies with co-workers I kept hearing, “These cookies are not the same, something is dramatically different.” Someone even asked if I used the same recipe, and I replied “yes.” At the time, I was overshadowed with so much disappointment I forgot that I didn’t use organic butter this time around. My heart just crumbled into pieces as a cookie would if fallen onto the floor. I was sad that I didn’t put smiles on my co-workers faces for the holidays. My cookies are usually the last tasteful memory of me, before Christmas Day.

When I finally reached home, I just kept thinking about what I did differently this time around for such a failed result. I started to think, “Well maybe I left something out and just didn’t realize it, because it was a late night baking after a long day of work.” Thank goodness I came to my senses when I opened my fridge for a snack, and realized I didn’t use organic butter, because there was none to be found at the supermarket, which was partially my fault for waiting until the last minute to find such an essential item.

So I thought for New Years Day, “I will make another batch of cookies to make up for a terrible Christmas disaster, but definitely this time with organic butter.” Sure enough, I baked my show- stopper chocolate chip cookies and went off to work. Everyone was as happy as cookie monster gobbling down cookie after cookie. At this moment, I had an AHA! moment. I learned how vital utilizing organic butter is when baking. So remember to purchase organic butter next time you bake. You just might be crowned the next top baker at your workplace.
